Does anyone have standardized curriculums that they are using for Neonatal Education? If so are you willing to share?
Welcome to everyone attending the COINN Day at the 7th International Conference of Neonatal Nursing in Durban, South Africa!
The National Perinatal Association has invited COINN to participate in the Multidisciplinary Guidelines for Care of Late Preterm Infants Summit; to be held at Georgetown University in Washington, DC. The Summit will be held on November 3, 2010. The goal of the summit is to bring together a group of experts for the purpose of developing multidisciplinary guidelines for the care of late preterm infants. These guidelines would direct postpartum staff, outpatient health care professionals, and parents in appropriate strategies for working together to provide a seamless flow of assessments and preventive measures that will protect late preterm infants from risk factors associated with their prematurity and help to insure optimal nutrition, growth, and development.
COINN has published a position statement: Care of the Late Preterm Infant. This document can be found on the COINN web site.
As part of the upcoming International Neonatal Nursing Conference in Durban South Africa, October 24 – 27, 2010, COINN is hosting a preconference day on Saturday October 23, 2010. To get ready for this important day I will be posing several questions in the lead up to facilitate on-going dialogue.
What can neonatal nurses do to advocate for mothers and babies? What are the barriers? What are the opportunities? What educational resources are required to achieve these aims? How can voices of neonatal nurses from the field be heard?
What are your thoughts?
Welcome to COINN’s blog. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Catherine McPherson and I have been asked to maintain COINN’s blog with relevant postings, information, articles and the like. This will be an open forum so discussion is encouraged and I look forward to your comments, input and guidance.
